Overview

Camp Reserve is a key recreational and community hub in Castlemaine, hosting a variety of local sporting events and activities. As part of an upgrade to enhance accessibility and usability, the project involved improvements to parking, pedestrian access, and traffic circulation around the reserve.

Quantum Traffic was engaged to provide expert Traffic Engineering Services, ensuring that the upgrades supported safe and efficient movement for vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians while integrating seamlessly with the surrounding road network.

To facilitate a functional and accessible upgrade, Quantum Traffic delivered:

Traffic Impact Assessment Report (TIAR) – Evaluating traffic generation, site access, and parking arrangements to ensure compliance with council and community needs.
Parking Layout & Circulation Review – Assessing and optimising on-site and surrounding parking to enhance capacity and ease of use for visitors.

Challenges/Solutions

A key challenge was managing parking demand on major sporting days, when a high volume of vehicles required access to the reserve. Limited on-site parking results in a level of parking occurring the surrounding road network. Quantum Traffic developed proposal to manage parking demands in the surrounding road network.
