Located in the heart of Caulfield North, Alma Village is a contemporary mixed-use development by KBMVdesigned to enhance the vibrant local community. With a striking architectural design by CHT Architects (now Life Architecture & Urban Design), the project delivers a seamless blend of residential apartments and ground-floor retail spaces, bringing new energy to this well-established neighbourhood.

Positioned within an evolving urban landscape, the development required careful consideration of traffic flow and site access, particularly given its interface with Council’s laneway upgrade works scheduled soon after project completion. Quantum Traffic was engaged to provide Traffic Engineering Services, ensuring the project’s seamless integration with the surrounding road network.

Traffic Impact Assessment Report (TIAR) – A comprehensive analysis assessing traffic generation, access arrangements, and parking efficiency to ensure compliance with council requirements.
Swept Path Analysis – Assessing vehicle movements within the basement and laneway interface, ensuring safe and practical entry and exit points.
Basement Ramp Review – Working closely with the project team during construction to refine and adjust the basement ramp design, ensuring it aligned with Council’s upcoming laneway works while maintaining smooth vehicle access.

Challenges/Solutions

Given the development’s interface with Council’s upgraded laneway works, careful planning was required to ensure the basement ramp design allowed for seamless access once the public works were complete. Through on-site reviews during construction, Quantum Traffic worked with the project team to ensure that all design refinements were implemented efficiently, preventing future conflicts with the laneway upgrades.
